Prinz Eugen and Repulse in 1/350

Post by Karl Heidenreich »

Checking some site I found, rather lately, that Trumpeter has been up to some good looking models in 1/350:

1. Prinz Eugen
2. Repulse

So, it seems that after some years of waiting I could put a PE with Bismarck, PoW and Hood to complete the Denmarck Straits Battle units complete. About Repulse it will complete the Force Z squad which will also be good.

It seems that Trumpeter also has put out the San Francisco in 1/350 and the Richelieu that, even being french, would be a good adition to a BB collection.

Best regards,

Hi all,

Unfortunately Trumpeter will launch the PE in the 1945 configuration, which will require some modifications ("backdating") to show it in the Denmark Strait configuration.

Unfortunately, the Repulse kit has the same errors that have been repeated over and over again in all previous kits - mainly with the aft superstructure which require some work to depict the ship accurately for 1941. And their new 1/700 kit has the same errors too - despite the fact that the errors have been thoroughly discussed and detailed in model forums and elsewhere. :stubborn: Basically there were modifications made in the late 30's when the ship was used as "Royal Yacht" when Renown was under reconstruction.

There is a 1/700 after market corrective kit produced by Admiralty Modelworks and one for the 1/350 is in the works now too.

For a detailed discussion or Repulse & Renown: http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/vi ... 47&t=33118

Also on the menu for 1/350 fans is the Graf Spee (Trumpeter and Academy).

For a listing of all the upcoming injection-molded plastic releases you can check here:

The one I am most anticipating is the Trumpeter/Pit Road 1/700 Renown...the wait seems interminable!

Hi all,

A review of the Trumpeter 1:350 Prinz Eugen can be seen in the link below:

A bonus S-100 comes with the package but unfortunately the PE is in the 1945 configuration. :(
