Great! I have been searching and it is not yet available for purchase.

Again: after seen it I cannot stop thinking that a WWI with tripods would have been much, much better. The KGV main structure is not that beautiful.

Trumpeter's 1/700 Vittorio Veneto and Littorio will both be out in September.

Haven't started the Roma yet. After finishing Warspite, with a bit more time to spare I'm working on IJN subjects - just finished the Aoba and am now working on Shokaku, both in 1/700. Pretty basic kits out of the box. Roma will be a long, careful haul. I can see the rest of my ship modeling year being very Italian!

Here's my Warspite again...on her seascape.. Not perfect, but I'm happy with her - only my second resin kit and still trying to get the hang of photo etch

Thanks RF. Great Jamaican summer sky as the backdrop!

Karl, I see the 1/350 Roma still on pre-order at Freetime Hobbies, but it looks to be available in Japan. Hobbylink Japan has is listed as "low stock". The ModelWarships site thread on new releases has it as "released" so it should be generally available very soon.

No sign of Warspite yet.

Here's a preview of the Trumpeter 1/350 Queen Elizabeth:

http://www.ipmsphilippines.com/site/thr ... zabeth/117

Nice!

Looking forward to the scaled down 1/700 version, and if Trumpy follows their recent pattern there may be a Valiant, and if they're willing to modify the mould significantly, a Warspite in 1/700 too! But that's pure conjecture on my part!

Now a 1/700 Queen Elizabeth has been announced by Trumpeter slated for January 2012 release.....BUT

WW1 fans start drooling.....it's in her 1918 configuration!

Image

However, I still expect that we'll get a 1/700 WW2 kit.

I see the 1/700 Vittorio Veneto listed for December while Littorio will become available in September.

Conjecture takes a step to reality, but not in 1/700. It seems Trumpeter will be releasing a 1/350 Warspite to compete with the Academy kit! The hull was on display at a recent Tokyo hobby show.

It will probably trounce the Academy kit for detail, though the latter is available at a very reasonable price for a 1/350.

No news on the 1/700's.

From the number of views, seems lots of folks are following this thread so even though comments are few, I'll keep it going:

Not sure how many of you here are aware of this one:

Trumpeter 1/350 Z-30 destroyer http://www.trumpeter-china.com/a/en/pro ... /1995.html

They already have released the Z-25 in 1/700.

Dragon is now coming out with the Z-31 in 1/700 - in incredible detail.....

Image

I asked how come no one is doing the earlier destroyers (with names) like Friedrich Eckholdt, Wilhelm Heidkamp etc. and was told they were considered but no accurate plans can be obtained which would make them have to guess at some details which in today's ship modeling world is a no-no. So only the later "Narvik" types (1936A) are being done. This is a real pity.......

I don't understand that ''no accurate plans can be obtained'' as these must have existed from when these ships were designed. I would find it difficult to believe that such plans were all lost in the war, against the multitude of documentation on other vessels and weapons that did survive.

It seems to me that perhaps the earlier smaller destroyers offer less of a commercial proposition to the makers of these kits?

Maybe I should have worded that differently - a closer quote is that they did not have enough reference materials and would have had to guess at a lot of features. Maybe they exist but they haven't been able to access them yet.

Dragon has, according to what we were told on the modelwarships site, set the bar so high for itself in terms of accuracy and detail -and their recent destroyer kits, even at 1/700 are strikingly detailed, including photo etch - that they will not invest in something unless they can satisfy that requirement.

But I do think there's commercial viability for the earlier German destroyers - from Norway 1940 to the Arctic convoys - plus they are more easily recognized because of the names. But I suppose there is hope...with the numbers of new subjects coming out in plastic, plus the re-toolings of older, less detailed kits (e.g. Japanese BB's and carriers) it's a great time to be a modeler....

Another 1/700 German destroyer is on the way - from Trumpeter this time - the Z-28 in her 1945 fit, due out in March 2012:

(This destroyer was done by Airfix in 1/600 way back when.)

Also, you can take a look at the HMS Queen Elizabeth 1918 kit here:

The Trumpeter 1/700 HMS Queen Elizabeth 1918 has been released and is for sale on Ebay.

The 1/350 of her in 1943 reconstructed fit will be available in February. You can see the kit here:

http://www.trumpeter-china.com/a/en/pro ... /2054.html

Still no indication of a 1/700 version of this WW2 fit though.
