Tirpitz color design?

Post by Karl Heidenreich »

I´m building the Tamiya 1:350 Tirpitz and found some doubts about it when trying to paint it in her 1943-1944 camouflage:
1. Deck. Was there a swastika at her bow and aft as in the Bismarck? If it was then the stripe was red or gray?
2. The Tamiya model despicts the hull mid section with gray rectilinear tones with white bow and aft. But I had seen photos in this very website that shows a central white stripe in the center. This white stripe goes or not.
3. Are there line drawings of this vessel that than make the painting easier. I believe Bonomi built a similar model.
Best regards.

But this is the past and now all of them are availabe to everybody.

This is what counts :D .

Still I am working on her....

Here a couple of my models now at the Tirpitz Alta Museum ( Alta Norway ) in KaaFjord were you should be able to find the infos you are looking for :
