This is my first post on this forum. I am looking for some technical opinions on a ship I am working out right now (an ocean liner), named MS Canada, after my home nation. She is based off the famous SS United States. I am not quite sure if she entirely correct (dimension-wise, power requirements, stability).
I will be studying naval architecture at Webb Institute this coming fall (2013). I have been interested in ship design for a long time.
Here is the information I have calculated so far (from my most collective knowledge of ship design thus far).
gross tonnage: 30,000 - 40,000 GT
length overall: 800 ft
length waterline: 765 ft
beam: 86 ft (waterline), 86.5 ft (max underwater beam)
draft: 28.5 ft (normal displacement)
displacement (normal): 30,600 long tons
service speed: 26.5 knots
maximum speed (design): 32 knots
shaft horsepower: estimated 130,000 SHP (?)
capacity: 1600 passengers and crew (?)
I would love some feedback on her please. Just looking through the boards, I think I'm in the right place to ask these types of questions.
Talk about your projects, exchange ideas, tips, colors, etc.
