Kriegsmarine Soldbuch to Steuermann Walter Früh who joined the Kriegsmarine in 1940.
Früh served on a number Mine Sweeping Ships, Coastal Artillery units and later was posted to a U Boot Instructional Unit (U-Ausbildungsabteilung). He was awarded the Mine Sweepers Badge (unfortunately this has been crossed out post-war - possibly by Früh himself).
The book is also marked “Personnel U – Boote” on the front page. I do not know what U Boot Früh eventually served on, but he was not awarded the Ubootkriegsabzeichen.
As was common at the time, Feldpost Numbers have (mostly) been crossed out. This was a WW-2 security measure to deny the identification of units if the SB fell into the wrong hands.
Früh was an Austrian and after the Capitulation he was in a Austrian Regiment 103 (Östr. Regt. 103).
In March 1945 Früh was admitted to hospital in Aalborg with Tonsillitis and was discharged from the hospital on 6th April 1945.
Früh served on, among other ships and land units, the following:
• Minenschiff "Cote d'Argent",
• Minenschiff "Preussen",
• Minenschiff "Ostmark".
• Führer d. Minenschiffe,
• Minenschiff-Gruppe West,
5./Marine-Artiller-Abteilung 521 (located in Denmark).
• Führer d. Minenschiffe.
