No doubt, and that's the one point I had in mind when I said "akin to". Of course as you say, a Q-ship could be an even better alternative. However, if the Allies figured that out in advance, it could have been an even bigger issue politically than the Panzerschiffe.

That was the problem though; Germany couldn't really afford (both figuratively and literally) to provoke the allied powers, at least not in the late 1920's/early 1930's when these things were being built. It was a testament to German pride more than practicality.
