Rear admiral Howard F. Kingman

Post by Francis Marliere »

Gentlemen,

I am looking for a picture of RADM Howard F. Kingman and I can't find any on the web. Do you know where I can find one ?
I would also like to know who is the senor officer between admirals Kingman, Giffen, Griffin and McMorris.

Thanks for any help,

Francis,

I recently joined this forum and so I just today read your posted question. I too was unable to find a photo of Admiral Kingman.

However, I was able to determine the rank precedence (at least as of May 1945) for the four flag officers you mentioned.

Here is what I found:

Robert Carlisle Giffen - Signal # 33
Date of Temporary Rank - Vice Admiral - 14 May 1944
Date of Permanent Rank - Rear Admiral - 1 Nov 1941

Charles Horatio McMorris - Signal # 37
Date of Temporary Rank - Vice Admiral - 23 Sep 1944
Date of Permanent Rank - Captain - 1 July 1939

Robert Melville Griffin - Signal # 93
Date of Temporary Rank - Rear Admiral - 5 December 1941
Date of Permanent Rank - Rear Admiral - 30 June 1942

Howard Fithian Kingman - Signal #102
Date of Temporary Rank - Rear Admiral - 10 May 1942
Date of Permanent Rank - Captain - 1 July 1939

Source: Register of Commissioned and Warrant Officers of the United States Navy and Marine Corps, 1 July 1945. Information current as of 1 May 1945.
The source document is available here: http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/ref ... C-1945.pdf

Hope you find this helpful.
