Spanish Civil war navy

Post by lwd »

There's an interesting thread on Republican Destroyers over at:
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 2&t=179592
including some nice pictures.
There's also a thread on Spanish submarines of the period I believe. Will post a link when I find it.

Very interesting indeed. It's curious that it seems that all subs went into Republican hands by the reports presented in your link.

Sounds like the crews were very pro Republican and the officers at least for the most part weren't. I wonder how much of this was planned and just how it all worked out.

Perhaps a bit OT as it isn't restricted to naval matters but theirs a SCW book thread over on the axishistory forum at:

That some may be interested in. Many of the books mentioned are in Spanish so I'm not at all competent to coment on them.

Probably how it worked out. The coup attempted in July 1936 didn't provide for prolonged resistance as it wasn't expected.
