Destroyer Dieter von Roeder

Post by rudihistory » Fri Oct 19, 2012 3:32 am

I just learned that my father was a crew member on the German destroyer Dieter von Roeder, and survived the battle at Narvik. He later received the Iron Cross for actions he took on that day. Can anyone help me find more information about my father? He joined the German Navy in peacetime, in January 1934. How can I find his military records? Where could I find a list of crew members? Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

You may wish to take a look at the U-bootwaffe website. Although the main focus is on U-boats it does feature crew lists for some surface ships as well.

You can also have a look at the www.tarrrif.net website where there is considerable technical info on the Roeder and other German destroyers.
