Battle Group formation

Greeting - I'm interested in gathering information about the tactical formation the Royal Navy used during WW 2. Particularly, capital ships and/or cruisers. I have succeeded in finding a couple documents about the USN doctrine just before WW 2 but nothing else and certainly nothing about UK doctrine.

In particular, what was the preferred configuration of the Battle Line for the Royal navy.

It would be most helpful if comments were accompanied by link if from the Internet, or text with book reference if from a book. Much appreciated.
