Floating Flak Battery 'Thetis' & Tirpitz

Post by hucks216 »

I'm not sure of the correct section to place this request so if it is in the wrong place please feel free to move it to the correct one.

I have a Soldbuch to a crewman of the Schwimmende Flakbatterie 'Thetis' which was used to protect the anchorage at Kåfjord and especially Tirpitz. I have seen an image of the location of Thetis in relation to Tirpitz while at Straumsneset (http://www.bismarck-class.dk/tirpitz/mi ... d_now.html) but would anyone know of an image, either a photo or drawing etc, that shows the position of Thetis after she had moved with Tirpitz (position in relation to the battleship) to Sørbotn near Tromsø in 1944?

Awfully sporting of the Jerries to paint a torpedo aim-point on the side of their battleship for us. :D

Just because it's stupid, futile and doomed to failure, that doesn't mean some officer won't try it.

Or they are just reminding themselves where the water is!

Thanks for the additional image of the two ships at Straumsneset.

Many thanks for that Antonio - they are great threads and the first thread does show an image of where Thetis was berthed ahead of Tirpitz, but as of yet I have not been able to find any image/chart that actually shows the position of Thetis in relation to Tirpitz when she was at Sørbotn.
