Cadet cap

The Grissom AFB Museum celebrates the legacy of Bunker Hill NAS and recently received as a donation a green "wheel cap", said to belong to an aviation cadet of the 1940s. The Marine green cap had a black visor, black cloth band and cloth anchor insignia center front. Is this a genuine uniform item from the era of our Base (1942-1946)?
