Kyler;

When you come to Costa Rica, tell me. You will enjoy the place, believe me.

RF;
Come on Karl, what have you got against Trinidad?
I have spent the last 16 months here trying to do a job that takes 7 months in any other place.

Hi Kyler.

Thanks for the photos, sorry I didnt respond sooner but my computer died last weekend and I have a new one on order.
I can only borrow my sister in laws laptop at the weekend.

The views over the sea from the Santorini clifftops look simply beauiful.

Hi Jose

I do recall that during the bus ride through the mountains prior to embarking on the boat down to Puerto Soller that the guide told us that an old dome on the mountain top had been used as a US military communications center during the cold war, I dunno if that was linked to the submarine base?

Other places that intrest me are Japan, Costa Rica and Chile (although I have heard this morning that the city of Concepcion has suffered an earthquake - I hope the people are ok!)

Yes, I think there was an American observation post or something like that up there. I believe we took over those installations time ago.

EDIT: Found a photo of the place.

We have a decent airport at Birmingham, but the main airports are Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and getting to them is of the order of six hours.

So Kyler you aren't too badly off in Illinois.

Dont get me wrong, Newcastle Aiport is nice inside but there are no flights to places like Santorini, Sardinia, Sicily, New York City, Sweden etc.
The choice is limited

Currently our cities only choices are, to"
O'Hare Int. Chicago, IL
Cinncinnati, OH
St. Louis, MO
Detriot, Michigan

thats its, while your regional airports may not be as nice or as Heathrow, at least yours can probably travel to another country

Kyler, what about Milwaukee in Wisconsin? I don't know exactly where in IL you are but I believe that is a major international airport?

Don't they do connecting flights over there? Sometimes some pretty extreme ones turn out to be the cheapest over here. For example one time my mother found that the cheapest route from Seattle to Detroit was via Atlanta....

lwd, I can see some logic in that as I don't believe that Atlanta is that much further away from Seattle than Detroit, just of course the extra mileage in travelling from Dixie into Michigan. Atlanta is also I understand one of the leading business cities in the South outside of Texas, so it would be a major destination from the US west coast, more so than Detroit?

Seattle to Atlanta is ~2,200 miles, Detroit to Seattle ~2,000, Atlanta to Detroit ~600 miles. Denver, Chicago, and Milwakee are all relativly close to inline with travel between Seattle and Detroit. It did help her accumulate frequent flyer miles. :)
