Happy Holidays to ALL!!

Post by paulcadogan »

To all KBismarck members;

Another year is rapidly drawing to a close and what a year it has been! Just when you thought there would not be much more we could discuss, we have had the longest thread (I believe) in forum history, with its offshoots still continuing on and off, with tens of thousands of views and scores and scores of posts. We've had heated arguments, pored over new information, analysed and re-analysed old information, come up with controversial theories and above all, we've had fun doing it.

Despite our diverse locations, personal beliefs, cultural differences, we all share one great common thread - absolute love for the ships and awesome regard for the human beings who sailed, fought and in many cases died aboard them.

I'd like to thank EVERYONE for being a part of all this and wish you all - whether you observe it or not - a safe, peaceful and very Merry Christmas season and may 2015 bring all that is good to you and yours!

Paul :D

Yes, and today marks the 100th Anni of the Christmas Truce. One of the most remarkable events in history and shows that deep down we are all brothers. What could have been.
Entering a night sea battle is an awesome business. The enveloping darkness, hiding the enemy's.. seems a living thing, malignant and oppressive.Swishing water at the bow and stern mark an inexorable advance toward an unknown destiny.

Well said.

I often wish we could all gather round a table for dinner some time and actually meet one another.

Hello everybody,

I agree with Byron Angel about the idea of a reunion and a dinner together ... any idea of place and time ?

What about in France ( Brest ) or south England ( Portsmouth ) next spring ? What about in Germany ? ... in Hamburg they opened a fantastic naval new museum.

Bye Antonio :D

Hello everybody,

here the link :

http://www.immhh.de/english/

What I found being fantastic about that museum is the " International " love for the ships and the sailors that you can feel in there.

It is NOT a only German Navy museum, ... it is a museum dedicated to the history of the Navy of the world and the ships, ... all era and all nations.

I think the owner was admiring a lot Horatio Nelson for example, ... and you can see it in there ... :ok:

Several floors ( 9 ) of models and exhibition, ... very modern and well done ... a must see museum.
