Re: New KM book series is started

Antonio -

I received a copy of your Deutschland (Lutzow) book as a Christmas gift. Well done - I enjoyed it!

When is the next one? :D

Scharnhorst - rare book

FYI, I have listed a nice copy of the very rare softcover book "Schlachtkreutzer Scharnhorst", by Karl Peter, 1951, E. S. Mittler & Sohn, Berlin/Darmstadt/Bonn, on eBay. German text. If interested, see eBay listing 200242569416.

Re: Zerstörers

I have the first edition of Whitley's book on the KM Zerstorer history - "Destroyers!". Is the second edition of this Whitley book different enough that it is worth having both?

Thanks.

Re: Vol. #3 A J Press series on the Bismarck/Tirpitz

Forum members often voice negative comments about using eBay - I don't understand why, as I have regularly used eBay with great success to both buy and sell items for my naval history hobby and US railroad hobby interests, plus other things from time to time, for almost ten years now. After some 800...

Karl - I'd suggest revising your "Most Beautiful" list to the Scharnhorst Class, rather than just Scharnhorst. Personally, though I regard Scharnhorst as one of my most favorite ships ever, as do many others, I think the Gneisenau was a bit the better looker because of her more graceful At...

Book - Kriegsmarine At War

Can anybody give me a review of this book?

KRIEGSMARINE AT WAR,
authors - Trojca, Waldemar & A Szewczyk

I have a chance to pick up a copy. I understand it is all pictures, which is good ... if they are not the same ones we have all seen in many other books.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Fortunately, the US armed forces never used much WP against people, Take a look at the types of bombs used in bombing of the German cities in WWII. A high explosive bomb with a large amount of incindiary phosporus was SOP. My aunt in Cologne was cooked by one. Swimming in some of the rivers after t...

"Nels" and "Rod" were kind of like the early VW Beetles - so strange looking that they grow on you.

Ulrich - Now that I look more closely at the photo, I see that the caption notes it was a phosphorus bomb. Next time I'll read it closer! :stubborn:  Why would Billy drop a phosphorus bomb on a battleship, given that he was trying to prove that an aircraft could actually sink a battleship by b...

Count von Luckner and Seeadler

Has anybody read Blaine Pardoe's relatively new book "The Cruise of the Sea Eagle" about Count von Luckner and his raider Seeadler during WW1? I picked up the book from the US Naval Institute some months ago, but just pulled it out to begin, hopefully, a good read. I will be interested to ...

Antonio - Excellent work on your ship models, as always! I'm curious about one thing regarding the Tamiya models of Bismarck and Tirpitz you have done - did you do anything to Tirpitz (and/or Bismarck) to try to reflect the slightly different shapes of their two respective Atlantic bows? I assume th...

Gary: If we see WWII history is relevant to note that the allies never aproached and engaged an equivalent enemy ship on a one to one basis but only with disproporcionate numerical superiority.
