Re: Obama´s mosque
frontkampfer: obama is in trouble and its the economy that will cost him. People realize that things should be better but their not. He was elected to fix the economy and he did not deliver. Instead, we got barry care and it looks like it will be ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. If that...

Re: P-47 Thunderbolt: The USAAF's Best Pursuit Aircraft
I discovered that one great group of US air aces (5 kills or more) fought not in Europe but in the Pacific. Many of them got killed.

Re: P-47 Thunderbolt: The USAAF's Best Pursuit Aircraft
I think the P-47N would have been an interesting matchup against late model FWs, had the mustang not been around to do the long distance job. My money would be on the magnificent -47N... . Georg Peter Eder shot down 10 P 47s in his FW 190 Kurt Buhlingen shot down 9 P47 Heinz Bar shot down 10 P47 An...

68th anniversary of Villers Bocage combat
An interesting action full of controversy: a week from D Day the British were pushing Monty's plan to get Caen so they had to take Villers Bocage town. A full armored Brigade with the support of 60 tanks (Shermans, Cromwells and Fireflies) got there on July 13th. The Germans had portions of a Heavy ...

Re: FW190 v others
Someones knows how Richard Bong got killed? On the same day the Hiroshima bomb was dropped he was testing the P 80 Shooting Star. He forgot to start a fuel pump and the plane crashed. He tried to bail out with no success.

Re: Obama´s mosque
To the American members of this forum:
From what I have heard the election race for this November which was originally very favorable to the islamic president Osama, sorry Obama, is now quite tight. Are there any real chances for the people of the US to recover their country?
Regards,

Quite correct, historical fact. Thanks for your intervention.Perhaps it might be fairer to say that it was the shear weight of numbers of P51's that eventually overcame the German fighter defence?

Re: FW190 v others
I think our good friend yellowtail do not understand or, more likely, do not want to understand. I do not think it's healthy for anyone to get in an argument with a troll so this is the last thing that I will post on this regard. If we study (and to do that it is necesary to read and UNDERSTAND) the...

Re: FW190 v others
I read your post which is more than you can say from mine, because you have not referred or have any ability to dispute what I stated there: The 190D was better, but very few and still somewhat inferior to the -47 and -51 at altitude... Rough parity, maybe, using a generous perspective. Then you com...

Re: FW190 v others
yellowtail, I do not understand this last post of yours, it is completely unnecesary and disputes nothing. You make an assertion without any support nor can refute anything I post: typical argumentative in nature breaking down some other guy's post and dissect it out of context. I do believe you ne...

yellowtail, The 190D was better, but very few and still somewhat inferior to the -47 and -51 at altitude... Rough parity, maybe, using a generous perspective. Of course that's your expert opinion. Let's use something easily lost around here: perspective and context. Have you heard of Richard Bong, ...

Re: Bismarck and her contemporaries
Dave: Lutscha is right on these points. TP in March 1942 had most of these short comings, with the exception of the single shot 37mms, at least partially addressed and turned in a much better performance. In this case the British were able to approach almost to with in torpedo release range hidden ...
