Re: We are developers of a new naval sim and we need some help
That would be the enclosed wheel house on the peacetime navigation bridge which was one level below the combat bridge and forward of the conning tower.

Or, if the enemy suspects the minefield is there, a mine barrage can also redirect an enemy's vessels passage into a smaller or more easily patrolled search area. The effect of a minefield can be more in deterrence than actual ship sinkings.

Possibly you were correct on BBC as they supplied many electrical fittings including AC and DC motors helm controls, etc.

Re: We are developers of a new naval sim and we need some help
The enclosed portion of the admiral's bridge gallery was fairly thin metal and at most splinter proof, so perhaps 8mm. The shelter was largely of welded construction with window framing bolted in place. As stated previously, the enclosure was mostly a weather shelter and so the gallery itself was sp...

Re: We are developers of a new naval sim and we need some help
Hi Tommy, Thank for the info this will help us again with the modeling. Regards Hans As an afterthought, I would expect the admiral's bridge gallery to have at least a gyrocompass repeater and telephones. Three of the seven front square windows or portlights on the admirals bridge enclosure had cir...

Re: We are developers of a new naval sim and we need some help
Yes, the conning tower plot room is on the same level, I believe as the peacetime navigation bridge, that is one level down from the combat bridge. There was, I believe a sort of reverse periscope which allowed the OOW or captain to take a look at the main plot without leaving the confines of the up...

Re: We are developers of a new naval sim and we need some help
As to colours for interior equipment such as the SFS display or engine room controls, go with either white (RAL 9002) or ivory (RAL 9003). Exterior junction boxes, helm console, etc appear to be the same colour as the surrounding surfaces. As to the admiral's bridge, I do not know of any good interio...

Re: We are developers of a new naval sim and we need some help
I'll see if I can create a little diagram SFS display tonight and send it in the morning, just to make things a little clearer.

Re: We are developers of a new naval sim and we need some help
At the top is a label with Teilsalve, two status lights and a black square with Zentral links/Aus/Zentral rechts. This is for partial salvos. The operator would chose the right or left central firing circuit,or set both to off line (Aus) in which case the firing woul be conducted from the director i...

Re: We are developers of a new naval sim and we need some help
Hans, Arrangements for flooding magazines was quite common. Magazines could be flooded, but they could also be pumped out or drained fairly quickly if doing so would help restore buoyancy or if the danger to the magazine passed. The decision either way would have been the ship's XO who was in charge...

Re: We are developers of a new naval sim and we need some help
. Very interesting pictures, thank-you. I was surprised that there doesn't seem to be room for a plotting table so as to give a better "picture" of any action. I GUESS that the periscope was used for general views? Or ? Was it ever envisaged that the Captain would conn the ship from here,...

Re: We are developers of a new naval sim and we need some help
I was giving a little more thought to your requests. As far as the main and secondary battery positions go, there were three--conning tower , foretop, and after command post. The lay out was similar for all three, except the after post had only two directors while the others had three, and all three...
