Thank you very much!
Hi Antonio: I have seen the map you created for Rob, and I am very grateful for your help in moving this project along. If Rob has any changes he wants made, he should advise you as soon as possible. Once both maps are made available, I think all concerned will be better able to see the differences....

Hmmm.....
Antonio: I could care less about what Frank, Jose, John, etc., etc., have concluded because their judgments don't mean that you have the entire picture correct as it now stands. Indeed, I am quite sure your work will need a bit of fine tuning, which is only natural as new things are learned. I do be...

The ships do not appear to comport with...
... and British ship I know of. I see a tripod mast, but trhese were found on many ships in the RN. As for the ship in the background, there is not enough visible in the superstructure for me to make any determination. This seems a romantic depiction that has little semblance to anything that actual...

Excellent idea.
This does seem like the best way to go. But Rob may not have expertise using the program needed to make a map that is akin to what Antonio has crafted -- which is very usefil indeed. However, it would be very good for Rob and Antonio to be on the same page here with regard to graphics.

.... the Germans were well aware of scaling effects, and thus found it best to avoid using Wh over 150 mm in thickness. Appearently, they felt a point of deminishing return was reached when thicker strakes of Wh were employed. Moreover, manufacturing thick armor is difficult from a quality control p...

Antonio, the point is for you and Rob to...
... engage one another over this key issue here and in the present thread -- which is my intention. You postulate a number of course shifts by the PE, and have some backing from the record. Rob takes a somewhat different approach as to what these shifts imply, and seems to believe they were not radi...

I am not a research scientist.
My dissertation involved a detailed examination of the neuropsychological foundation of human communication, as in trying to devine what morphologically transpires within the brain as we process input and shift views. I wrote a text book on the subject, and then left the accademy after falling ill f...

Hi Antonio: You needn't spend time trying to persuade me. I know your case because I have heard it many, many times before. I am awaiting Rob's answer, and that is all. One point he keeps bringing up is: "When I challenged Antonio to reconcile the order for the Prinz Eugen not to fire over the ...

More input for Antonio...
Hi Antonio: I spoke at length with Dr. SF, who works for the Navy in hull designs. He had serious problems with the shell splash methodology for many of the reasons already articulated, but he quite independantly and spontaneously suggested using the hull waveform method -- if the profile can be see...

Nice summary Antonio...
Hi Antonio: I am well aware of what Rob has to answer, as I am of the work that remains for you to do. I suspect that course alterations will play a very large part in this, but what we need now is some input from Rob. Your position has been clear for some time, and parts of your case are certainly ...

Not much has been resolved...
Some very noble attempts were made, but I, for one, am not about to make any conclusions untill Bill completes his exercise in determining the distance between the PE and Bismarck. Once this is verified, then we have something to discuss. And without the origional movie sequence, or an exact copy, w...

Excellent points.
Hi Bill: Your views coincide with those of the other experts we have consulted, and especialy with regard to a new area that Bill Claire brought up. You note: "In addition, we must also keep in mind that the camera ship is ALSO moving during the sequence in question, which in and of itself will...

Determinations.
Nearly all the experts thus far consulted note that both current effects and wind effects do not each cancell out with regard to the their relative influences on the Bismarck and the shell splash's locations. Some experts opine that the shell splash may be considerably more impacted by wind effects ...

Input from B. Claire.
BC works for DoD as an analyst and has 3 degrees, one of which is in marine engineering. I explained the problem. In his view, the current's effects on the shell splash vs the ship is insignificant, but the wind could be a factor due to its likily stronger effect on the splash than the Bismarck. Lik...

Hi Antonio: I can make no promises they will help, but we have two oceanographers at Penn State who have experience in modeling methods that may be applicable. I will try to explain the problem you're trying to solve, and then see if they can help. It is the beginning of a new semester here, so that...
