Re: A WW3 scenario

Gentlemen, ..... Putin originally stated that he wanted to take back all the Russia had lost, in a more recent statement he apparently said he wanted to establish a Euroasian corridor (whatever that is) from Moscow to Lisbon! Surely anyone coming out with this sort of stuff has got to be a bit deme...

Re: A WW3 scenario

Depends on how the human resources of China, Russia and India are used. They have vast populations - but in the past this hasn't prevented India from becoming a British possession (with bits held by the Portuguese), Russia suffering huge losses in every war it has fought and China being picked off b...

Re: China and the Biden Administration

Don't forget Japan. The whole reason Japan was in Korea and Manchuria 100+ years ago was because what happens in Korea finds its way across the strait to Kyushu and then to Honshu. Since the war, Japan and South Korea, and Taiwan, have been protected by the US nuclear umbrella. It has brought a sta...

Re: A WW3 scenario

: Russian military assets and preparation may be not ideal for an aggression war, but, as it was against Napoleon and Germany, Russian capability of defending their own country is almost unlimited (like Ucranians are currently demonstrating on much reduced scale against Russians themselves): good l...

Re: A WW3 scenario

The scenario by Tom Clancy was based in the 1980's with the Warsaw Pact invading West Germany without any Chinese involvement. A very similar scenario that nearly happened in 1983 with the Able Archer exercise.... Today we are not only without the Warsaw Pact, but virtually all the non-USSR members ...

A WW3 scenario

With the current situation in Ukraine now a virtual stalemate - the Russian Army bled and degraded while Ukraine doesn't have the firepower or manpower to throw the Russians out - we could consider a variation of events from the start of this war. Russia is part of a bloc which arguably comprises Ch...

Re: Was the H.M.S Hood the most powerful ship for 20 years?

OP I have to wonder about Friedman's rationale for putting living arrangements under "speed" given that you also can't FIRE if the crew isn't functioning. Come to think of it, being slow under that rationale should perhaps BOOST the "Defense" rating since the ship that can't get...

Re: \what is Putin up to?

In the following twitter account you can find lots of photos of destroyed/damaged/captured vehicles planes and helicopters. The Russians are having heavy casualties, there is no doubt about that. https://twitter.com/UAWeapons Many also wonder why the Russian Air Force has not appeared over the batt...

Re: Ukrainian Army gets some unexpected reinforcements

But don't forget they are fighting as part of the Ukrainian forces and not as a replacement for them - they would be supported by Ukraine infantry and tanks with their existing more modern weapons. In time the SS troops will learn how to use the Ukrainian weaponry and fully integrate with it, just a...

Ukrainian Army gets some unexpected reinforcements

Looking at the military situation in Ukraine today what do you think would happen if the Ukrainian Army was reinforced by two WW2 SS Panzer divisions teleported from 15 December 1944 on the Ardennes front? I am assuming these two divisions would be under Ukrainian Army orders (which would include co...

Re: \what is Putin up to?

Not to mention that, IIUC, official UK data has now reported that vaccinated individuals presently account for 9 of 10 UK Covid cases. If accurate, how curious .......... B 98% of the UK population is vaccinated, so the one in ten of unvaccinated Covid cases comes from a miniscule residual populati...

Re: \what is Putin up to?

Byron, Listen in to GB News - it is streamed on the You Tube - and you will see that the presenters I name in the second paragraph of my previous post are expressing exactly the same comments on the Covid debacle as you are. As I say we have a mono-narrative that only allows one viewpoint, in the UK...

Re: \what is Putin up to?

There is I think a very strict ''mono-narrative'' going on with this war in the western news media and we should also be aware of the role of the European Union in all of this. For a broader view of things I think it is worth tuning in to the GB News channel in Britain, journalists such as Dan Woott...

It would still depend on the precise circumstances an engagement starts. Also there is an extremely narrow time frame of just two weeks inside June 1940.

My gut feeling is that the French ship would have the edge.
