Submarine jamming radio of enemy ship

Hi all

Were surfaced submarines of WW2 able to jam the radio's of ships they were attacking?

I've rooting around WWII since 1957. (First saw "Victory At Sea" on the TV, instantly hooked. I told my parents I was going to join the Navy after watching the first epi.)
