Recent Expedition To Bismarck

Post by Stormcastle »

An IMAX feature titled Aircraft Carrier: Guardian Of The Seas included approx. 1 minute of footage from the Bismarck wreck that had been recorded some time in the 2010s (the film was released in 2016) if you account for the 4K+ video capture quality combined with high intensity lighting

This setup is far beyond what was used during the Cameron or ITV expeditions, and movement of the camera indicates it was taken using a towed ROV which - again - is technologically past the point of those previous expeditions... so any elucidation would be helpful, since access to the wreck is controlled by the German government

I've seen it all -- hours and hours worth -- and this looks very much like the James Cameron footage to me. Could be wrong, though...

This is the Cameron expedition - which was only done in 1080p (720p for the ROVs), and had very flat lighting... which resulted in mostly only shades of blue:

You've obviously not seen all of the Cameron footage. I'll stick with my original assessment.

Is there more of this footage? Or is it only 1 minute of film from the dive? Really hope there is more, because diving so deep and leasing submarines to only film 1 minute sounds a little off to be honest...
