Take three examples:
Example 1:
Awa A IA 100/40 g.Kdos
Unterlagen und Richtlinien zur Bestimmung der Hauptkampfentfernung und der Geschoßwahl
Example 2:
B. Nr. 1. SkI. I Op. 410/41 Gkdos Chefs.
Seekriegsleitung Operation Order for Rheinübung
https://www.kbismarck.com/rheinubung-op ... der.html
Example 3:
K/K III A Nr. 231/41 g.Kdos.
Vergleich zwischen "Richelieu" und "Bismarck"
What confused me is that did German have a similar tradition like UK ("ADM" for "Admiralty, and Ministry of Defence, Navy Department") (in this instance, "Awa A IA" served as abbreviations) or they simply naming 100th file in 1940 as "100/40"?

Re: Some questions regarding to WWII German naming of documents
the documents start with the shortsign of the Navy Branch...department maybe a subdivision ; sequential number/year ; secrecy level and date of the document
AWA -;Marinewaffenamt; Chief Witzell further subdivision A IA
SKL I -;Seekriegsleitung I; Chief Raeder
K -; Konstruktions(K)- Amt; Chief Fuchs ---->K/K Fuchs itself
recomended Book: Lohmann, Hildebrand; Die Gliederung der deutschen Kriegsmarine 1939 -1945; Podzun Verlag 1956 or so
AWA -;Marinewaffenamt; Chief Witzell further subdivision A IA

Meine Herren, es kann ein siebenjähriger, es kann ein dreißigjähriger Krieg werden – und wehe dem, der zuerst die Lunte in das Pulverfaß schleudert!
