Gentlemen,
Can someone tell me where to find a comparison table of strategic forces of NATO vs Warsaw Pact by late 80ies? Manpower vs mapower, tank vs tank, fighters vs fighters, nuclear weapons vs nuclear weapons and so on?
I'm trying to put together an answer and need a reliable source with that. In my home in CR I do have that info but not here.

There are several OBs for both forces listed here:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sour ... oEBU_QFv3O
or are you looking for characteristics ie guns and armor sort of thing for tanks? If that's the case some of the best unclassifed info will be on wargaming pages.

Then you may want to look here:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sour ... oEBU_QmqoC
The first one on the list (a pdf) looks to have at least some of what you are looking for although it dates to the late 70s rather than the 80s. The others may be better.

Lee,
thanks for the links. One of them I found last night but is a bit ambiguous. By the end of the 80ies the NATO was in pretty good shape to face the Warsaw Pact in comparison to the early 80ies. Some analysts in these articles, basically, says that NATO could very well stop cold a soviet attack by then. No wonder that the soviets were considering opening hostiliites with tactical nuclear attacks (I read that in Time magazine in the 1993 or 1994).
