Hi guys, I just found this site and see this thread is quite old. Is Steve still working on this project? I would be very interested to see the progress after eight months!
I have just started this model with the same WEM brass sets (still waiting for the brass to arrive in the mail) and found the mod to the rear hanger very interesting. Does WEM give dimensions in the instructions? I see it looks like you are aligning the height to the deck height of the aft superstructure subassembly and the width to the vertical width of the same assembly where the two meet but I see you have a taper on the vertical dimension. I was curious how you arrived at that dimension?
I never built a model I couldn't screw up.

Just wondering, where did you order the barrels?

Were you asking this of me? No brass barrels unfortunately, I have already drilled the mains, they are acceptable but not perfect. Brass secondaries would be nice, I hear some guys use hypodermic needles which I might check into.

Oops, I seem to have misread... Needles might work, but careful drilling as well.

No barrels, just the sets of details from WEM, the ultimate set, the deck plates, the Flak mountings, and extra Kriegsmarine portholes, hatches and doors. Getting impatient to start, it took me while to get the extra cash for the pe sets so I've been fitting the deck sections to the hull and filling the gaps and doctoring up the seams. Have them as well as I can but didn't want to go any further until I check out what modifications the pe require.
The deck seams aren't as good as I would like but hopefully I'll be able to hide the rest of the imperfection with the paint by breaking up the visible line with the plank striping.

Since Kitbuilder seems to have dissapeared I thought it might be appropriate to post some pics of my Bismarck bridge done with the same parts. Probably not as nice as Steve's, I'm no rivet counter. But I think it's kinda nice:

Very nice - the photo-etch work is very crisp.

Well, Tirpitz is next. I'll be using the Eduard and WEM set on that one.
