Operation Berlin Question

Post by gflotron »

In Richard Garrett’s Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, he writes that during Operation Berlin, while sinking five merchant ships on 2/22, “the Scharnhorst steamed off in pursuit of another tanker, which escaped”
I was wondering if anyone had a copy of her war diary which confirms this.

I'm not familiar with Richard Garrett’s work, but he may be referring to the fifth and last victim, the Harlesden (5,483 GRT) which initialy tried to escape but was finally sunk at 2308 hours after darkness fell.
